Cabinets and Constituency Groups

Youth Ministry, Young Adult and Children Cabinet (YMYAC)
Josh Snyder, Staff Consultant (josh@ccinky.net)

YMYAC is an acronym for Youth Ministers, Young Adult, and Children’s Ministers. Several folks who have been called to this form of ministry have joined together to minister to the youth, young adults, and children not only of their congregations, but of the region as well. They do this by promoting, and working at our church camps in KY, organizing and leading region-wide events for youth, young adults, and children, and inviting other youth, young adult, and children’s ministers to be a part of the group and share their ideas and vision. This is not a closed group, so anyone who would be interested in being a part, please let us know.

Kentucky Christian Missionary Convention (KCMC)
Rev. Reginald Smith, President (pastorregsmith@gmail.com)

Empowered by the Holy Spirit, our mission is to unify and under-gird historical African-American Disciple Congregations through Spiritual Practices, Leadership Development and Fellowship activities. This body shall help to meet its mission by:

Serving as a forum to discuss pertinent issues that affect the lives of African-American Disciples in the context of the wider Church.

Conducting study, worship, spiritual growth, fellowship, service, evangelism and stewardship in all areas of Christian life

Emphasizing the whole mission of the Church of Jesus Christ and supporting the outreach ministries of the Christian Church Disciples of Christ in the Unites States and Canada and encouraging our member congregations to also support developing strategies to enrich and expand existing congregations.

Foster a “Christian Community” that supports the diverse ministries of the local congregations.

Green Chalice – KY
Kim Cowherd – Convener (kgcowherd@gmail.com)

The purpose of the Green Chalice Program is to encourage and assist Ky congregations who wish to live out their faith by caring for creation. With the urgency of climate change impacting our neighbors and world right now we have prioritized Carbon Neutrality while still inviting congregations to care for creation more generally. This program is designed to recognize congregations for being good stewards of God’s creation. It also aims to empower congregations with ideas and resources to enable them to walk gently on the earth.

Reconciliation Ministries
Darrell Hayden (rev.dhayden@gmail.com) and Dean Bucalos (dbucalos@yahoo.com) – Co-Conveners

Kentucky’s Anti-Racism/Pro-Reconciliation Ministry Team remains hard at work addressing the issues of racism in the life of our church and in the wider world.  Through education, inspiration and advocacy, this team of both lay and clergy members of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) In Kentucky meets regularly to share our life’s experiences, create and lead reconciliation training for both clergy and laity, support programs in the Kentucky Region that address the root causes of racism and speak on behalf of the church when incidents negatively affecting people of color arise in our culture. Anyone interested in participating in this important ministry is welcome to join Kentucky’s Reconciliation Team.
