The 2024 Regional Assembly of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Kentucky will be held August 1-3 in Mount Sterling. Our host churches are High Street Christian Church, Somerset Christian Church, and First Christian Church, Mount Sterling. This will be the first Regional Assembly hosted in Eastern Kentucky.

The assembly will feature:

• Rev. Dr. Leah Schade, associate professor of Preaching and Worship at Lexington Theological Seminary and author of several books, including “Preaching in the Purple Zone: Ministry in the Blue-Red Divide” will be preaching during Thursday evening’s opening worship. Rev. David Emery – currently lead pastor of Harvard Avenue Christian Church in Tulsa, OK and formerly with Middletown Christian Church in Louisville and with FCC, Mount Sterling – will be bringing the message at Friday worship. Rev. Dr. Donald K Gillett, II, CCK Regional Minister, will bring the message during Saturday morning’s worship.
• Music will range from a talented group of trad musicians to the Black Gospel Ensemble to hymns played on the pipe organ at FCC, Mount Sterling.
• Workshops will include topics such as an afternoon of service for youth; the bi-vocational church and the rural church; ways our churches can work on updating and improving our constitutions and by-laws; the women’s ministries in the 21st century; managing ministry for dementia patients and their caregivers; ways to enhance music in worship and enhance congregational participation; a representative from Pension Fund to speak with clergy and lay employees; find a full list of workshops and their descriptions below.
• Plus – Men’s and Women’s luncheons, Regional Assembly Choir, reports from our institutions, time to meet and greet our siblings in Christ, and a chance to enjoy the many opportunities that are around Mount Sterling.
